I think that Vic really does love him a lot, and the doubts from Milly are wellintentioned but also perhaps a little biased. Maybe he catches Vic doing something or going somewhere instead of being with him, and he realizes that Vic isn't the right guy for him. It's obvious that he could fall for Milly if Vic was out of the question.

(Those two people in the pic are from Once Upon a Time! She is confident that her cousin is making a mistake, but he knows himself better than that. He wants and independent woman and Vic is more in love with Jeremiah than Milly thinks. But she has planted the doubt in Jeremiah's mind and he can't get rid of it until Vic proves she loves him more than her independence. ;)

Oh, the directions this could go! :DRachel Rossanohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12984724805729525522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6863271505161273073.post-46361568595119184302014-01-09T12:42:24.691-05:002014-01-09T12:42:24.691-05:00The bus doesn't stop and they don't get to...The bus doesn't stop and they don't get to their destination on time.

Hmm...

I think if this is a short story with a happy ending, I would go the he thinks about it until he decides to break it off last minute.

If a tragedy or a morality tale he would not realize the truth of the matter until it is too late and he married the woman.

Or, it could be a novel where after a long and laborious set of increasingly awful episodes where things Vic does and doesn't do fall on both sides of Milly's prediction lead Jeremiah to realize his cousin was right. You could also throw in a new love interest, Milly's friend, perhaps (or if you want to throw back to Louisa May Allcott days, Milly becomes the love interest, though they didn't have buses then ;) ).

Overall, it is a great bit of flash fiction. :)Rachel Rossanohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12984724805729525522noreply@blogger.com
